Sunny Summer

To all those out there in the blog world I have to apologize for my horrible blogging recently. Like before, life has taken another direction. Unfortunately things at the company I was working at in Portland did not pan out like I had hoped. So I am on the search for another position. Onto bigger and better things!

Also I have started to embark on a new artistic direction, one that I hope to make happen in the next few months. Wait to hear more about it.

This past weekend for the 4th I went to Port Angeles with Bryan and many of our friends to celebrate the Bachelor/ Bachelorette party of our friend Jeff and Michelle. It was a great weekend spent on the lake relaxing and boating.

As a tradition everyone opens fortune cookies and mine seemed to fit my current position in life pretty much perfectly.

"Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone"

It is a little dramatic, but life is not something to take for granted, so I need to stop saying ill do things tomorrow, the time is now!

Life Quickly Changes

One thing that is for sure is that life can change drastically without much warning. It has been a while since I have updated my blog because my life flipped upside down - but in the good way!

I finally got my license and bought a car - life changing event right there. I know all of my friends are happy that I got that taken care of. It has been amazing to have that freedom. But I am happy I waited as long as I did, owning a car is pricey!

The following week, I took a voluntary layoff from my job at the PR firm. I cannot begin to describe how much I learned over the 9 months I was there or the amazing people that I met. But I knew in my heart it was time to move on. I needed that extra kick in the pants to move to Portland and my boss realized that as well (Thanks Tam)! So, Thursday the 14th of April was my last day at WPR.

The next day, I had an interview in Portland through a networking connection. I ended up staying at the company all day getting to know people and ended with a contract to begin work the following Monday!

So far I love this company, and hope that I will be a full-time employee in the next few weeks. Bryan's parents have been amazing and have let me stay at their house while I get situated with living and working in Portland.

I could not be happier! This blog will be taking a new direction - to match the one that my life has.

Look for more posts to come about life in Portland!!

Spring is here!

Today marks the first official day of Spring, and surprisingly the sun is shinning! I cannot wait for warmer weather and longer days. I'm also looking forward to dresses like the one above. My mind is on PR today, this is the best time of year for restaurants because they will soon be able to open the decks and outdoor seating. I'm sure you will find me at multiple happy hours spending time in the sun with great company and a glass or two of wine.

Reasons to Celebrate

Today is a fantastic day! Not only is it St. Patricks Day, Gonzaga is playing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against St. Johns. I plan to celebrate tonight by grabbing a beer with a friend (preferably green) and cheering on my Zags. To put it lightly, basketball at Gonzaga was a way of life. For my first two years of college I sat pretty much in the front row for every game. During my JR and SR years of college I worked at every men's and women's basketball games. There were some amazing memories created during ticket distributions, waiting in line for hours for seats, and the one time all my college friends and I camped out for a big game! Gonzaga will always hold a special place in my heart, I'll be a Zag for life!

Hectic Monday

The weekend flew by too quickly and I feel like I accomplished nothing. Now it is back to a crazy work week, I'll be training two new interns this week on top of an already packed schedule. I just want to crawl back into bed for a few more hours.

Found on Pintrest

This bed looks particularly comfy, I would like to close the doors and just hid away for a few hours blogging.

Ill try to be better about posting this week

Dream Office

Although I am still living at home with my family and will be for sometime, I can still dream about how I will decorate my personal office/creative space when I get the chance! The dreary weather today in Seattle is making me lust after a bright and open area to work in.

There are a few spaces that have caught my eye in the past week. These two featured on House Beautiful would be a perfect creative space to design!

But my favorite would have to be this space. I keep coming back to it over and over again! I want it to be mine, exactly how it is. I think it is beautiful!

Career Wardrobe

While I was in college most of my wardrobe consisted of impulse buys and chunky clothing to keep me warm during the cold Spokane winters. Now that I am working in a casual work wear office I realize I need to update my clothing to reflect my career. Luckily I work in a field where trendy pieces can be worn to work!

I realize though that I need key timeless pieces that will last forever. In the first edition of Matchbook Magazine there was an amazing article outlining the 50 classics for your closet:

These will be the pieces that I will be looking for in the future to add to my closet. All I want right now are warm weather clothes, unfortunately living in Seattle there are only a number of Summer days that would allow for shorts, swimsuits and dresses. Maybe a vacation needs to be planned!

Fill in the Blank Friday

This is my first round of Fill in the Blank Friday from Lauren of The Little Things We Do! I love her blog and her style. Might as well play along!

1.   I am currently obsessed with       spring styles, sunshine and bright colors.

2.  Today I am    super busy     because,    there is a major transition of roles going on at work right now! I'll be taking on a lot more responsibility in the next few weeks and that makes me nervous.

3.  The age I am is    23     and the age I feel is   a few years younger, for the time being. I have a lot of responsibilities on my plate but at the same time I do not feel like a grown up. Student loan payments have me stressed out though     .

4.  My favorite place is     Portland. That is where I want/plan to move eventually. May just take longer than expected  .

5.  Something I have been procrastinating is     organizing all of my personal paperwork. I need to get some sort of file system going  .

6.  The last thing I purchased was        Makeup from Everyday Minerals, this company is amazing. More to come about them at a later date   .

7.  The thing I love most about my home is       that I get to spend a lot of time with my family. Moving home was a big adjustment, but it has been great. Dinner every night, laundry done, and my lunches made?! I think there are some massive perks to it!

Current Obsession

Recently. I'v been looking for a great statement piece of jewelry.  This watch by La Mer Collections may be it! I have not been able to get the watch out of my head. I think it is so unique and can be dressed up or worn casually. The whole line of watches is pretty amazing if you ask me. The watches are inspired seasonally by different locations, currently it is Costa Rica. It is refreshing to see new design ideas that promote functionality and beauty all in one!

Welcome!

I am hoping that this will be my first blog posts of many in the next weeks, months, years. I feel like I am constantly being inspired by so many different things and I have no where to put them to share. So this little blog of mine will be my outlet, follow if you like!

Life has been a crazy roller coster these past few months, graduating from college, then moving home to Seattle (to live with my family - life altering right there), not being able to find work for months (which unfortunately is common for all graduates) and now working full time at a PR firm in Seattle.

I am excited to see where these next few months of life will take me, and I can only hope they will be more fulfilling then the past months.

I can say for a fact that the one thing I really miss about college life are these girls - fab five for life!
